Overlord is a popular Netflix Anime that just wrapped the shoot of Season 4!
Previous seasons received a lot of praise from the audience and the critics. This article covers Overlord Season 4 and Everything you need to know about it and more- the Release Date, Cast, Plot, and SPOILERS too.

Overlord: In a Nutshell
Overlord is written and illustrated by Kugane Maruyama and So-bin, respectively, and it consists of about 14 Volumes as of now. However, rumor has it – the complete series would be up to 17 Volumes (or, if you’re lucky, MORE – writer’s words.)
Moreover, due to its growing popularity, the books were further adapted into Manga. Okay, enough about the book series.
Let’s shift gear towards the Anime adaptation, shall we?
Okay, so this record-breaking Anime series (aka. Overlord) is an adaptation of popular Japanese Novels; and it’s also alternatively known as Hepburn. And this ‘dream come true’ adaptation was brought to reality by MADHOUSE in 2015 between early July and late September – consisting of 13 episodes covering 1 to 3 volumes.
The first season was so well-received that further two compilation films (The Undead King and The Dark Warrior) were also released with their beautiful soundtracks and everything. And needless to say, these films gave us Prequel-ish vibes.
Now, the 2nd Season was further released in early January of 2018 (yes, whooping three years of a wait) – way to test one’s patience. Season 2 consisted of 13 episodes based on 4 to 6 volumes. And this season, too, had some great soundtrack.
The following season, and just like previous ones, Season 3 also consisted of good music and 13 episodes based on Volumes 7 to 9.
And finally, Season 4, because you’ve clicked on this article in the first place, we’ve discussed it below.
The Release Date and Airing!
The original release date of Overlord Season 4 was early 2021. However, due to the global pandemic that hit us back in 2020 – along with many other shows, the shooting of Overlord season 4 was postponed.
But luckily, soon enough, the shoot was resumed and further wrapped as well. And Madhouse has indeed confirmed that we’ll get Season 4 by the end of 2021 for sure!
Overlord Season 3: The Backstory
To start by tapping on previous seasons- Ainz is all ready to take over the world since he somehow has found himself amidst the chaos of Nazricks (of course, he too is clueless how that happened.)
But did that stop him and his moves from prepping for a big war? Hell no!
The season begins by focusing on two separate storylines – one is of Npheria and Enri, based in a small Village as it further gets intertwined with Ainze and his plans. While the other storyline focuses on Empire and how that is connected with Ainze long-time coming ruling world.
So what makes Overlord so unique?
The best and most absolute favorite thing about Overlord is its focus on everything and not just setting a camp around the main character. And maybe that’s why we all are so invested in every single character and why they behave the way they do!
And, of course, how will that conflict or elevate Ainze’s further journey.
Overall, the storyline is slow-based (another highlight of why we get so invested), and ultimately we all want Ainze to win. How unlikely of us to route for a bad guy, right? But come on, Ainze deserves it all!
So what can you expect from Overlord Season 4?
The Overlord season 4 will pick up from the end of Season 3. So let’s analyze what we can expect in this Season.
Since at the end of Season 3, we saw Ainze sitting on Throne as the Sorcerer, and of course, that would bring many evil traits (and we are so up for it!)
Moreover, there is a lot of speculation that the Great Tomb may return with a significant story arc.
Now, if we focus on the Novels, then it’s already given that this season would be based on Volumes 10 and 11, so Ainze darling, brace yourself for some crazy rollercoaster!
There is also speculation around Shijuuten and her finding proper ground.
Regardless, let’s move ahead towards *spoilers*
So, in Volume 4, Ainze charges towards the Dwarf Kingdom alongside Shalltear and Aura in quest of Runa Magic. Further, Ainze discovers that the Country is under significant crisis as it has fallen prey to the invasion of Quagoa (who is a demi-human race).
And, of course, their Kingdom seeks help from Ainze that if he could help them out of the situation, then the Dwarf Endeavors would belong to the Sorcerer Kingdom.
This pact was going as strong, but little did they know it’s not the Demi-human race that’s a threat!
Who would be starring in Overlord Season 4?
Kind of a no-brainer, but you can expect the main cast (aka. The Voice Actors) to return for Season 4. So let’s take a look at the Cast list:-
- Masayuki Kato
Who gave voice to the NPC demon named Demiurge.
- Sumire Uesaka
Who gave voice to the Vampire Shalltear Bloodfallen.
- Yumi Uchiyama
Who gave voice to the Dark Elf and one of the twins – Mare Bello Fiore.
- Emiri Kato
Who gave voice to the Dark Elf and one of the twins – Aura Bella Fiora.
Where can you watch the Overlord Season 4?
The complete Overlord series is available on Netflix (and Season 4 will be airing there as well), so go and subscribe to Netflix’s affordable plan if you haven’t already.
But if Netflix is something you’re not fond of, you can also watch it on Amazon Prime; however, the only issue is certain countries may get Geo-restricted.
Other than these secure platforms, there are tons of sites (unethical, to be precise) – there, too, you can find episodes of Season 4. However, it’s not recommended since it’s a safety concern, so try to avoid it as much as possible.
